JIMMY BARRY-MURPHY has reiterated that, despite training with the Cork squad, Paudie O’Sullivan won’t play any part in their All-Ireland hurling final replay with Clare on September 28.

Last week the Cork boss said that it just wouldn’t be realistic to expect O’Sullivan, who suffered a broken fibula and tibia in a club match last April and has been sidelined since, to make the replay and he confirmed that stance on Tuesday.

“[O'Sullivan] has been training. It has been a struggle for him, he made great progress at one stage but unfortunately time has run out for him now.

“He hasn’t responded as well as we were hoping and he’s not available, he’s definitely gone for this campaign.”

The corner forward had tweeted yesterday that his leg felt considerably lighter after having the pins, which were inserted after the break, removed.

There was better injury news for the Rebels from Cian McCarthy who is expected to take a full part in training this evening after recovering from the ankle injury that saw him withdrawn in the second half of the drawn All-Ireland final.
